Indicators

  • Roomba 900 series says “Error nine (9). Tap Roomba's bumper, then press CLEAN to restart.”
  • Roomba 500, 600, 700, and 800 series says “Error nine (9). Tap Roomba's bumper to clean.”
  • Select models will play a two-tone “Uh-Oh” sound followed by 9 beeps.

Overview

Error 9 means the bumper is stuck and is not moving freely.

Briskly tap the bumper several times to dislodge any debris that may be trapped underneath, and then press CLEAN to restart.
